Program Note:

A deep-seated longing or passion can manifest itself in many ways and through many circumstances. Romanza is a study in desire – eros, pathos, and philia – all intensified when the distance between oneself and the object of one’s attention appears to grow further, as time inevitably passes. A longing for ‘other’ constructs the work and informs its path, through moments of curiosity, lament, and (momentary) ecstasy.
